Too bad he didn't *urge* his patient's parents to get the MMR vaccine in a timely fashion...or at least before they took their children on a trip to Switzerland. His unvaccinated seven year old patient was the index case identified in the San Diego measles outbreak.
lilady, I think you misread; it's Bob's father Bill who made that statement. I would hazard an educated guess that Bob would never acknowledge an outbreak and urge his patients to get vaccinated even if there were deaths and complications. At best would issue some weasel-worded platitude that it's the parents' choice and to go with their intuition. Oh and buy my line of supplements.
I just discovered your blog from orac's. Good stuff! I'm in Oregon (lowest vaccinations rates in the country--many white, married, college-educated parents that feel entitled to not vaccinate due to the "toxins", or libertarians with other philosophical or religions objections). Help me!
To bad Bill won't call out his son on his moronic book. That would be the best of all.
ReplyDeleteIf only Christopher but the Sears' are marketers first, medicos last. It's all about the Sears' enterprise and brand.
ReplyDeleteWell, since vitamin C cures whooping cough, why are we worried (snark)
ReplyDeleteThis is a *classic* turnabout for Dr. Bob.

DeleteThanks Science Mom...I did misread the Sears' father and son names.

ReplyDeleteThanks Elaine and I'm sorry but there is no current inoculation against arrogant ignorance such as you find yourself in the midst of.
