La Crosse Purposes

Anyone who has an interest in the Andrew Wakefield debacle also knows who Brian Deer is.  Mr. Deer is giving a talk at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse 4 and 5 October 2012 and that has the Wakefield worshippers in a collective apoplexy.  What is particularly striking about the current Deer versus Wakefield affair is where the latter has been relegated to.

Wakefield was once the darling of media outlets.  But after his demise following the GMC Fitness to Practise Proceeding and the determination of over forty counts of serious professional misconduct, his ouster from the former Thoughtful House (now Johnson Center for Child Health and Development) and subsequent British Medical Journal series by Brian Deer chronicling Wakefield's fraudulent activities, Wakefield is deservedly reduced to wallowing in the dregs.

Brian Deer gets invites to speak at notable universities and societies and wins press awards whilst Wakefield has been reduced to giving interviews to paranoid conspiracy-theorists Alex Jones and Mike Adams, nipping at Brian Deer's heels in the form of failed lawsuits and now appearing in little park sheds with a capacity of 40, a mile away from where Mr. Deer will be presenting to crowds numbering in the hundreds.

That has to sting.  And for your visual entertainment, this is where Wakefield will be:

Myrick Gun Club, La Crosse, Wisconsin.  Capacity: 40.  Cost: $140/day.

And it looks like it might be a rainy day for the Wakefield fans.  Too bad.

This is where Brian Deer will be presenting:

Centennial Hall and Clock Tower, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.  Capacity: 250.

Just go away Wakefield; you aren't relevant any longer and you certainly haven't done a damn thing to help benefit the autism community.  It's a shame that people with more money than brains don't recognise Wakefield for being the unscrupulous money-suck he is and can't seem to find themselves legitimate figures to identify with.

  1. Wakefield's "press conference" in the shed was hastily arranged by one of his sycophants and the "press conference" has been reported by a local newspaper. I've been busy the past few days at that local newspaper's internet blog, posting back at the "usual suspects" who provide cover and financial support for the disgraced former doctor.

"And it looks like it might be a rainy day for the Wakefield fans. Too bad."

Too bad indeed. I've been checking the worsening weather forecast for Andy's "press conference in a shed in a park" and yesterday when I last checked, the chance of rain was 40%.

  2. I don't doubt that this venue mocks him but he will be sure to make some conciliatory remark about the significance of having his wankfest in an intimate park gun shelter. I would like to point out that I am in no way disparaging the park or it's facilities rather jeering Wakefield and his sad rump of disciples for being reduced to holding "press conferences" in a little shed.

  3. From what I have seen they have a cute little building. That can hold forty people.

It is adorable. I can't wait to see how the folks at AoA and Generation Rescue will spin this. It will be very amusing.

So exactly what is Wakefield up to these days other than filing spurious lawsuits outside of the relevant jurisdiction?

  4. @ Chris: AoA, Generation Rescue and the Canary Party will certainly be "spinning this".

I remember other "press conferences" that they videotaped and put up on their blogs. The video only focused on the speaker, without "panning" the venue. The applause was *deafening*....not.

Will *The Stalker*, a.k.a. Wakefield's lap dog show?

    Will Blaxsted be introducing Andy?

Tune in Friday, for the video.

  6. Now MR, normally I would delete a spammy-looking post but it's you (I presume). Yes, I saw that and the title is very misleading since Wakefield was over a mile away and no one at UW-L wanted anything to do with him. Too bad he can't take a hint or more like a direct snub.

  7. Please don't take that comment down...I've been busy posting at that LaCrosse Tribune blog. I invite anyone here to join me.

  8. Don't worry lilady, I won't as I am acquainted with MR and she's a good egg. I don't think her intent was to spam but rather inform us of a relevant article.

  9. I know MR is a "good egg". I am again inviting people to join me at that LaCrosse Tribune blog.

(Just ignore the constant spamming posts by ASD Researcher...and now "Twyla")

  10. It's almost kind of sad they way they perseverate on minutiae that they believe exonerates Wakefield so they can hold onto their zealous beliefs. Their minds are so welded shut I don't think they would accept the facts about Wakefield even if he himself made a full disclosure.

  11. Sorry, I was in a hurry and didn't have time to comment (I am currently sans home internet because the unsecured WiFi I've been bumming on is down).

I sent a link to this blog to my sis-in-law who lives in LaCrosse and she emailed me the article link. I thought that it was pretty amusing how the two events seemed equally important and legit to the newspaper. I don't usually read much in the comments of news articles because (in my experience) they usually devolve pretty quickly into kindergarten arguments (with an occasional sane voice).

  12. You've been missing all the fun on the LaCrosse Tribune blog, Middle Roader. All the anti-vaccine spamming bots have shown up with their repetitive posts.

The "blogger" is a cub reporter whose "beat" is local schools and education. He's clueless about Wakefield's "study" and Brian Deer's investigative journalism. He still thinks there is a "debate" about the MMR vaccine and autism.

  14. Poor Andy looks totally dishevelled LOL... I have seen about 8 folk there, how many were there? Still love Andy's voice despite all his lies :) thanks for the link. I'll see how far I get.

  15. @ Catherina: There were more than 8 folk there. Don't forget that the LaCrosse Octoberfest was being celebrated all over the city:

    http://www.oktoberfestusa.com/

Andy did look quite dishevelled. The "other" folk appeared to be young local Octoberfest party-goers, who were "drawn to" the public spectacle/"press conference" of the defrocked, disgraced former doctor...now reduced to a carney barker.

  16. I think you might all be interested in this new blog from the LaCrosse Tribune, written by a member of the committee which invited Brian Deer to speak at U. Wisconsin-Lacrosse:

I'm already posting there...all the spammers are out in full force. :-)

  17. Thanks for the head's up but I've got a full plate this weekend and I don't think I can stomach the Dachelbot, the fake ASD "researcher" and the rest of the snivelling minions right now. I do admire your fortitude lilady.

Michael Winfrey is excellent and I love his bluntness; more need to adopt his way of simply stating how it is. No debate. Period.

I've just posted back at you. :-)

    3. Nice to see you here Dyson. I bow to your fortitude and your snark. Is that thread still going on?!

Has "ASD Researcher" elevated himself to PhD, MD, JD and UK Ambassador to Uzbekistan yet?

  18. I keep posting that "no debate" remark at the bot. You'll be missed. :-)

  19. The Canary Party is spreading their bird droppings in the form of a protest letter to U.Wisconsin-Lacrosse...to complain about "No debate. Period"

  20. @ lilady, somehow I don't think that UW-L gives a toss and the letters will be appropriately filed.

    My point...exactly! :-)

  22. Brian Deer Strikes Back at the Canary Party. Go to Deer's website, scroll down left column to "VanDerHorst-Larson" and click on, to see Deer's reply to that Canary (Protest) Letter:

  23. Thanks for this lilady. An excellent reply although they are pretty slow balls he's hitting.

  24. I'm pretty certain that the Canary Party letter writer was the Minnesota coordinator for Andy's three trips to Minneapolis to deter Somali parents from getting their kids immunized. Andy was the catalyst for the Hennepin County measles outbreak, 2011.

Andy's super secret "Strategic Autism Initiative" lists "Somali/Autism" as one of their objectives.

Why didn't the Chairman of the National Canary Party (Mark Blaxill), write that letter? Or did he and the brain trust at AoA, compose that letter that was signed by VanDerHorst-Larson?

  25. @ lilady, if you look at their "charges", they reek of the Wonder Boy only more grammatically-correct.

  26. Brian Deer posted a comment on LB/RB this A.M. about that whole (non) debate fiasco and the letter from the Canary Party:
