Wakefraud One More Time and Anti-Vaxx Myth-Busting Dr. Iannelli

Since Andrew Jeremy Wakefield aka Wakefraud made another warped bid for attention in the form of threatening a maybe-perhaps-in-the-future-if-he-gets-around-to-it lawsuit against Emily Willingham and Forbes Magazine, it's just as good a time as any to give him the attention he so desperately craves.  C0c0rdance released an educational video which contains Wakefraud's raw real-time PCR data and how it was intentionally altered to achieve measles-positive results entitled "Wakefield's Smoking Gun".  C0nc0rdance's evidence and plain-language explanation leaves no doubt of Wakefraud's intentional fixing of the data to provide his own foregone conclusion.

Next, Vincent Iannelli, M.D. posted an excellent "Vaxopedia" entry "Anti-Vaccine Myths and Misinformation" which will be a handy reference for a quick refutation for the annoying anti-vaxxer you may be arguing with as they will undoubtedly invoke several of the canards debunked by Dr. Iannelli.
"I did my research."
Parents often say that when they are ready to delay or skip vaccines.
Because the idea that vaccines are dangerous is easy to disprove, the anti-vaccine movement surrounds that idea with many myths and much misinformation to confuse parents who are trying to "do their research" on vaccines and how best to keep their children safe and healthy.
This guide to the most common anti-vaccine myths and misinformation will help you understand that vaccines are safe, are necessary, and that getting your kids vaccinated and fully protected against each and every vaccine-preventable disease is the right decision to make.
Please read on for an entertaining rebuttal of 40 anti-vaccine tropes.

  1. Beautifully graphics about the deliberate falsification of the raw PCR results by Wakefield...with more than 1,000 views on YouTube. Thanks, C0c0rdance.

I've already saved the link to Dr. Ianelli's anti-vaccine myths article.

  2. Wasn't that nicely done lilady? I need to leave him a comment. Maybe Jake Crosby would like to view it and provide his "scientific" opinion on it. Heh.

  3. Extraordinarily simple to understand how Wakefield crapped around with the raw PCR data, Science Mom.

Perhaps you want to provide COncOrdance, with this link to an AoA comment?

"I can see you that you are not a scientist. The language that was used in the PLOS O'Leary paper is what is used when an author flails around trying to explain why he now gets different results than he did previously. Are you really seriously believing that the Royal Free children were so unique that the results could not be reproduced with a larger sample of children at a later date? Because that is what he is saying. He suggests that "Other factors to consider include differences in patient age, sex, origin (Europe vs. North America), GI disease, recency of MMR vaccine administration at time of biopsy, and methods for confirming neuropsychiatric status in cases and controls."

So, MMR causes measles virus in the gut in European children but not North American children? Really? Or MMR causes measles virus in the gut only when children are diagnosed in Europe, but not when they are diagnosed in North America? Why don't you believe Chadwick? He testified. Under oath. Why didn't Wakefield? The petitioners could have called him at any time. They didn't. That speaks volumes. You might want to watch this video which explains how the results were originally cooked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXtANMp3wok&list=UUPFnHiJx1P9UY05_F9sOu1g

[Politics Buff linked to COncOrdance's YouTube video :-) ]

Yeah, we should be grateful for Wakefield's fraudulent "study", because there now are extensive changes to declarations from study authors, when a research paper is submitted to a first tier journal for publication. (Sorta like the changes made to the SEC after Bernie Madoff perpetuated the largest Ponzi scam in the stock exchanges' histories).

Don't expect Jake to analyze COncOrdance's Video...he's too busy now, sending letters to the Lancet, demanding a retraction of the retraction of Wakefield's "study".

  4. thanks for the propaganda article, one for the files

    Truth on wakefield http://whale.to/vaccines/wakefield.html

    where to start:
Vaccine-preventable diseases aren't really that serious.

Vaccines don't prevent disease, easily proven by statistics, and if you vax quacks really gave a rat's ass about them you would use Vitamin C http://whale.to/a/vitamin_c_banners.html end of story

At least one MD hasn't sold her soul and taken the money, not to mention doing some proper research

Vaccines did not save humanity and never will. Vaccines have never been proven truly safe except for perhaps the parameters of immediate death or some specific adverse events within up to 4 weeks. Smallpox was not eradicated by vaccines as many doctors readily say it was. They say this out of conditioning rather than out of understanding the history or science. Polio virus was not responsible for the paralysis in the first part of the 20th century. Polio vaccine research, development, testing and distribution has committed atrocities upon primates and humanity. Bill Gates is not a humanitarian. Vaccines are dangerous and should never be injected into anyone for any reason. They are not the answer to infectious diseases. There are many more sustainable and benevolent solutions than vaccines.[2011 Feb] A Few Things I Know by Suzanne Humphries, MD

So how is the cloudbuster business going? Still protecting folks from evil ley lines with copper pipes, foil and other stuff?
